How Do I Get Started?

System Requirements:

  • A  computer with a modem and browser software, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape.
  • Access to the Internet to receive or transmit files (data communications).
  • Once created, XML messages are electronically sent to the other trading party.
  • The data communications protocol selected needs to be determined by the trading partners.
  • For more on data communications protocols, please refer to "How to Use the GS1 System XML Schemas" available in the Solutions Center.
  • XML parsers, software tools that allow the user to validate and extract data from an XML document, are mandatory for performing XML transactions.  The schemas have been developed and tested. See the "How to Use GS1 System XML Schemas" available in the Solutions Center.
