It's not simply a number, it's the key to a world of supply chain tools.
BarCodes and eCom members are assigned a number called a GS1 Company Prefix, which is globally unique and reserved just for use by that company. Members use their GS1 Company Prefix numbers to construct a variety of identification numbers within the GS1 System, enabling them to identify, track and communicate information with trading partners.
In conjunction with other numbers, members can identify products and services, physical locations of warehouses and distribution locations, corporate assets, and more with a variety of GS1 identification numbers.
