The following Coupon Industry Survey Summary was taken directly from the inputs received as of July 25, 2002. It was presented at the July 31-August 1, 2002 meeting of the Coupon Re-Engineering Work Group. The group used this document as a guide to develop the initial draft of the business requirements from which the Point-Of-Sale (POS) Coupon Re-Engineering Work Group developed the Coupon Re-Engineering Proposal
The consolidated list of business requirements follows:
- Enable the use of full GS1 Company Prefix to enable accurate redemption
- Complete validation
- Audit trail indicating items purchased
- Unlimited value codes
- More flexible purchase requirements
- Secure system with fraud controls
- Cost-effective and easy to implement migration path
- No loss in POS productivity
- Must facilitate electronic coupon clearing
- Capability to prevent doubling
- Solution compatible with in-ad coupons
